We Have Reached Many Important Goals Since Our Founding in 2012

And We Couldn’t Have Done It Without Concerned Citizens Like You!

Governor Raimondo Signs The Rhode Island Families Act

We are so proud of all of our members as well as our partner groups that tirelessly raised awareness about the dangers to domestic violence victims when their abuser has access to firearms. The bill, signed by the Governor in October 2017, goes into effect immediately and expands the prohibition of guns from felons to also apply to domestic violence misdemeanants and individuals who are the subject of protective orders; all guns must be surrender to the appropriate authorities and attest to the fact in court.

Our 2016 Poll of R.I. Voters Provides Valuable Awareness and Insights

RICAGV commissioned a public opinion poll in Rhode Island by former NY Times poll analyst Louis DiNatale, of Princeton Research Associates. The results showed overwhelming support for common-sense gun legislation, but we also found that the percentage of support increased when voters were made aware of new information regarding our state’s regulation gaps that make our communities less safe. This data will help us as we move forward with other important legislation in R.I. as well as help other groups to raise awareness throughout the country of important facts.

Our Coalition Has Grown to Over 120,000

Our members and partners have participated in over 100 events, creating awareness of the cost of gaps in federal and state regulation that have contributed to gun violence. They have shown their support to help us raise awareness of common-sense gun legislation that will help reduce gun violence in Rhode Island.
