Tell Them What You Think

 Ryan_and_Mattiello

An overwhelming majority of Rhode Islanders want to see common sense gun law reforms yet Speaker Mattiello used his power to block a vote on common sense gun laws - just like Speaker Ryan is doing in the House.

Sign the petition to thank our courageous US House members that stood up to the gun lobby, and put RI House Speaker Mattiello on notice.

An overwhelming majority of Rhode Islanders want to see common sense gun law reforms:

92% of Rhode Islanders want to keep guns from convicted domestic violence abusers.
82% of Rhode Islanders want to keep guns off school property.
75% of Rhode Islanders want to limit high capacity magazines.

I thank my courageous US House members who stood up to the gun lobby for the historic sit-in on gun violence prevention.

Speaker Mattiello, I was extremely disappointed to see you cave to gun lobby pressure and block votes on common sense gun laws here in Rhode Island. It's time for you to also act with courage.

In 2017 do what’s right-pass laws that will protect our children and families. These laws do not take away any second amendment rights.

Fact: Military assault weapons confined to wars until WW2 ended – along with gun manufacturers guaranteed enormous profits. Solution: Re-style Ak47 & others to appeal to citizens. Result: Profits soar and innocents paying the price for American gun manufacturers’ greed.

As a mother of a police officer I am horrified the he and his fellow officers are so out gunned because of the NRA and easily bougjt legislators who never have to risk their lives to defend the public.

As the world’s other advanced societies have accomplished before us, we will have sensible gun legislation. The U.S.A. should have led instead of following. We should have moved forward after Newtown. But we will prevail. Be part of the future, not the past…
