A Salt Lake City, Utah elementary school teacher accidentally shot herself in the leg with her concealed firearm. The incident occured shortly before class started at Westbrook Elementary School, and fortunately no students were present; she was rushed to the hospital and was reported to be in good condition. The teacher had a concealed carry license, however the school did not know she was a permit holder.
Ben Horsely, Granite School District spokesman, said “The law’s specific. We’re not allowed to ask, and she’s not required to tell us … The intent of a concealed-carry permit is to have the strategic advantage of people not knowing that you’re carrying, so that you can defend yourself.”
