Another big gun bust in Rhode Island, this time on Lawrence Street in Middletown. On April 8, 2022, Middletown Police, the RI State Police Violent Fugitive Task Force and the ATF, seized 79 firearms, a large quantity of ammunition, and a bullet-proof vest. Among the weapons were a loaded handgun and a fully loaded AK-47, both unsecured.
Warrents for search and arrest were secured after an investigation of Jeremy Speck, who had been convicted of a violent crime in Texas which prohibited him from possessing guns; he was charged with various firearms-related counts and his son Xavier was also arrested and charged with four counts of providing false information to secure a firearm (also know as being a straw buyer).
