RICAGV Endorses Hilary Levey Friedman for RI Senate District 3

Providence, Rhode Island: The Rhode Island Coalition Against Gun Violence (RICAGV) has endorsed Hilary Levey Friedman to fill the vacant seat for RI Senate District 3, representing the East Side of Providence.

As the President of RI NOW and a founding partner of the Campaign for Gun Violence Prevention RI (CGVPRI), Ms. Levey Friedman has been a strong advocate for common-sense gun safety reform. She fully supports the mission of the Coalition, particularly limiting magazine capacity to 10 rounds, regulating military-style assault weapons, prohibiting concealed carry permit reciprocity for out-of-state gun owners, and enhancing the penalties for failing to safely store firearms.

RICAGV Endorses Hilary Levey Friedman for RI Senate District 3 Providence

“I am honored to be endorsed by the RI Coalition Against Gun Violence and look forward to partnering with them to pass meaningful gun safety legislation and working to invest more in nonviolence programs, reducing the incidence of poverty and inequality, and providing all children with equitable opportunities for education, including afterschool programs,” said Ms. Levey Friedman upon hearing the news of the endorsement.

RICAGV Executive Director Linda Finn said, “I have worked closely with Hilary for the past several years. She is always willing to go the extra mile and step up in the face of adversity. She isn’t afraid to take on a difficult challenge and I think she is going to make a great Senator.” She added, “I am excited that one of my last actions as Executive Director is to issue an endorsement statement in support of a strong woman — we need more leaders like Hilary!”

RICAGV looks forward to big wins in the upcoming Primary on Thursday, October 5, 2021 and the Special Election on Tuesday, November 2, 2021.
